OCEANSIDE, CA — A new pediatric dental clinic has opened in Oceanside, offering much-needed dental services to children in North San Diego County. Children’s Choice Dental Care, known for serving Medi-Cal–eligible and military families, launched its newest location to address growing disparities in children’s oral health.
The Oceanside office aims to serve families who rely on Medi-Cal and Tri-Care, providing both preventive and full-service dental care for children. This effort is part of a broader mission to reduce long-standing gaps in access to quality oral health care.
Access remains a major concern across the region. According to the California Third Grade Smile Survey, nearly 20% of third graders in San Diego County have untreated tooth decay. That’s one in five children living with a preventable condition that can cause pain, infection, missed school, and long-term health issues. The survey also found that only 30% of these children have received dental sealants—an effective and simple preventive treatment.
“These numbers are concerning,” said Dr. Jeff Jacobson, Chief Medical Officer at Children’s Choice Dental Care. “That’s why our focus is on reaching children who need care the most.”
Dr. Jacobson emphasized the importance of early and consistent dental care. “Every child deserves a healthy, confident smile,” he said. “Oral health is tied to overall health. We want families to feel supported, welcomed, and informed.”
To celebrate the new location, Children’s Choice Dental Care of Oceanside will hold a grand opening event on April 11 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include tours of the facility, meet-and-greets with dental staff, and an opportunity for families to learn more about the care available.
Local leaders, healthcare professionals, and community members are invited to join the celebration. One of the event’s highlights will be a Children’s Choice Art Contest, which encourages kids to express creativity. Winning artwork will be permanently displayed in the office as a symbol of community pride.
“This office is more than just a place to treat cavities,” said Dr. Jacobson. “It’s a place where children can build confidence and where families can feel empowered to take control of their health.”
With this new clinic, Children’s Choice hopes to reduce barriers to care and give more children the tools for lifelong oral health. The Oceanside office is now open and accepting new patients.
