Orangeville, ON – May 5, 2025 — Headwaters Dental in Orangeville opened its doors on Monday to provide free dental care as part of its annual community service initiative led by Dr. Raj Khanuja. The clinic treated 22 patients in a single day, delivering over $10,000 worth of services, including cleanings, fillings, and extractions—all at no cost.
The event marks the first in a series of 10 Free Dental Days scheduled at Dr. Khanuja’s clinics across Ontario. The program is designed to support people who cannot afford dental care, offering essential treatments in a compassionate and dignified setting.
“This initiative is about more than dental work—it’s about making a real difference,” said Dr. Khanuja. “The smiles we saw today reminded us that one simple act of kindness can have a lasting impact.”
The idea for Free Dental Days began years ago when a mother visited Dr. Khanuja’s clinic with her son. She needed dental treatment herself but had to choose between her own care and purchasing hockey equipment for her child. That moment sparked the campaign, which has since grown into a province-wide effort to bridge the gap in dental accessibility.
Patients attending these events do not need to provide financial details or reasons for their visit. They only need to make an appointment in advance.
One grateful patient said, “I’ve been between jobs and felt ashamed of the stains on my teeth. Today’s cleaning gave me back my confidence.”
Another shared, “I had a broken tooth for years. It caused pain and embarrassment, but I couldn’t afford to fix it. You treated me with care and didn’t charge a cent. That kindness means everything.”
Dr. Khanuja said he hopes the initiative will inspire other dental professionals across Canada to follow suit. “This campaign reflects what our profession stands for—compassion, accessibility, and service. These are values we see every day in the Orangeville community.”
Additional Free Dental Days are planned throughout the year at Dr. Khanuja’s clinics across the province.
