AGONA KWAMAN, Ghana — More than 600 residents of Agona Kwaman and nearby communities received free medical and dental care on Monday, thanks to a health outreach organized by the Marigold Foundation in partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Chicago, Dallas, and other supporters.

The event, held in the Agona West Municipality of the Central Region, marked the launch of this year’s Dental and Health Screening and Donation Drive by the Marigold Foundation.

“This year’s outreach is focused on improving health and well-being in our communities,” said Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, founder of the Marigold Foundation, at the opening ceremony. “Our team of dedicated healthcare professionals will be offering free medical and dental check-ups, health education, and essential donations to support families and individuals in need.”

Mrs. Assan stressed the importance of oral health, noting that it is often overlooked, especially in underserved communities. She expressed concern about the rise in dental-related diseases, particularly among children.

“Many of the people we screened today were school-age children who need proper oral care,” she said. “We are glad that the Marigold Foundation and its partners are providing free dental care while also raising public awareness on oral health.”

She urged for collective support to help individuals who cannot afford regular medical visits due to financial hardship.

“We must work together to assist those who are unable to access healthcare,” she added. “Helping others is not just an act of kindness — it is service to humanity and service to God.”

Mrs. Assan, who previously served as Central Regional Minister under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), reaffirmed the Foundation’s broader mission. Beyond healthcare, the Marigold Foundation also supports quality education, clean drinking water, environmental sanitation, and other essential social services.

Reflecting on the day’s success, she remarked, “What a remarkable day it has been. The energy, the community support, and the dedication from our health professionals made this event a true success. From dental care to health screenings, we’ve taken another big step toward ensuring better health for all.”

She added that the next screening sessions will be held in Gomoa Brofoyedur in the Gomoa Central District and in Senya Bereku in the Awutu Senya West District.

“We are taking healthcare closer to the people, one community at a time,” she said.

The Chief of Agona Kwaman, Nana Opeiku Yeboah VI, expressed appreciation to the Marigold Foundation and its partners. He described the initiative as timely and deeply impactful for his people.

Other dignitaries present included Hon. Frank Kwesi Abban, former Presiding Member of the Agona West Municipal Assembly, and sub-chiefs from the traditional area.
