PESHAWAR, May 12 (APP) — The Institute of Pathology and Diagnostic Medicine (IPDM) at Khyber Medical University (KMU) organized a successful Dental Awareness Camp on Monday, aimed at providing free dental checkups and educating the university community about oral health.
The initiative, led by Dr. Benish Aleem, Head of the Oral Pathology Department, saw strong participation from students, faculty, staff, and local community members. Dr. Aleem encouraged active involvement and emphasized the importance of preventive dental care.
Under the guidance of experienced dental professionals, the camp offered free oral examinations, along with interactive sessions focused on hygiene practices and dental care awareness. Faculty members and student volunteers joined hands to deliver consultations, diagnoses, and recommendations for basic treatments, reinforcing the significance of regular dental checkups.
Representatives from Colgate and ClearPath Orthodontics Pakistan delivered engaging presentations on modern dental treatment options and best practices in oral hygiene. Participants had the opportunity to interact directly with dental experts in an open Q&A session, enhancing their understanding of proper oral care techniques.
University leaders, including Prof. Dr. Rubina Nazli (Dean of Basic Medical Sciences), Prof. Dr. Inayat Shah (Director, IBMS), Prof. Dr. Yasir Yousafzai (Director, IPDM), and Dr. Ehsan Ullah (Head of Microbiology, IPDM), attended the event and praised the organizers for their commitment to public health.
Dental checkups were performed inside a mobile clinic provided by ClearPath Orthodontics, which was stationed on the university campus. Over 600 individuals received examinations during the camp. In addition, Colgate Pakistan distributed free dental hygiene kits to all attendees.
KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq commended Dr. Benish Aleem and her team for their efforts. He also expressed gratitude to the sponsors and reiterated KMU’s dedication to promoting healthy lifestyles through such outreach programs.
“This camp reflects our ongoing commitment to improving community health and raising awareness about the importance of oral hygiene,” Dr. Zia said.
The event concluded with a collective call for more such initiatives to build a healthier, better-informed society.
