Louisville Dental Office to Provide Free Care for Uninsured Families on May 18

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Families without dental insurance will have access to free oral healthcare later this month through an event hosted by Ruby Dental & Braces in Louisville.

The dental office, located at 3510 Bardstown Road, will offer free services from 9 a.m. to noon on May 18 as part of the 10th annual Sharing Smiles Day. The event will provide dental exams, limited emergency care, extractions, cleanings, and restorative treatments to eligible participants.

The services are available to children up to age 18 and adults who are not covered by Medicaid or any other dental insurance. Families are encouraged to register in advance to secure an appointment.

Sharing Smiles Day is a national initiative led by Benevis, a dental healthcare and orthodontics organization that supports access to care for underserved communities.

“Ruby Dental & Braces believes every child and adult deserves a healthy smile, no matter their socioeconomic circumstance,” said Dr. Peter Igoe, district dental director at Benevis, in a statement. “That’s why our clinical and administrative teams are volunteering their time to serve the Louisville community on May 18.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, children between the ages of 2 and 5 from low-income households are nearly three times more likely to suffer from untreated cavities compared to their peers in higher-income families.

The event aims to address this gap by providing essential care to those who may not otherwise be able to afford it.
