Sharjah, UAE — In a community-focused partnership, the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation and the University of Sharjah’s Mobile Dental Clinic have provided free dental care to 80 orphans. The initiative included dental check-ups, health education, and treatments, all offered at no cost to the beneficiaries.
This effort reflects the shared goal of both institutions to support vulnerable populations and improve their overall quality of life.
Health as a Cornerstone of Empowerment
Professor Aisha Salem, who leads the Social Research Department at the Foundation, emphasized that health plays a key role in the Foundation’s mission.
“Empowerment isn’t only about education or social support,” she said. “Health is essential to building a stable and dignified life.” She also thanked the University of Sharjah for helping raise health awareness and offering vital dental services to those in need.
Mobile Dental Services Reach Underserved Groups
Dr. Maryam Obaid Al-Shawain Al-Kaabi, the lead physician of the mobile dental clinic, explained that the clinic has been operating since 2016. It was launched with support from a grant by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.
The mobile clinic targets individuals who face difficulties in accessing healthcare. These include the elderly, people of determination, and orphans across Sharjah and other parts of the UAE. During this latest collaboration, the clinic performed procedures such as tooth extractions, cleanings, and fillings. It also offered medical consultations to patients.
A Unified Approach to Social Care
The initiative highlights the impact of coordinated efforts between charitable and academic institutions. It serves as a model for how partnerships can deliver lasting support to underserved communities. This collaboration supports the broader objectives of social solidarity and sustainable development in the UAE.
